Use Zoom with Attaché

Attaché adds Zoom meetings to the events in your calendars, also when someone who helps with your calendar adds them. The meetings are created in your Zoom account and you are their host. Your Zoom password stays with Zoom.

Waiting for Zoom’s approval

Attaché’s Zoom app is waiting for Zoom’s approval, so Zoom accounts can’t be connected yet. This guide describes how it works once Zoom has approved it.

The update to our privacy policy that covers Zoom takes effect on October 27, 2026: read the new version.

Before you start

  • An Attaché account, on the Free or Pro plan. Zoom accounts don’t count toward the Free plan’s 5 calendar connections, and you can connect up to 5.
  • A Zoom account. If your organization manages it, its administrator may have to approve Attaché first (for Zoom administrators).
  • A calendar you can change, connected to Attaché: Google, Microsoft, Zoho, Apple iCloud or another CalDAV server. Subscribed calendars are read-only.

Add Attaché to Zoom

  1. Step 1: Open Video meetings in Attaché

Sign in at app.tryattache.com or in the Attaché app, open Settings → Connections and find Video meetings. You can also go straight to app.tryattache.com/connect/zoom. In the Zoom App Marketplace, where Attaché is listed as Attache - Shared Calendar, Visit Site to Add on its page takes you there too.

  2. Step 2: Choose Connect Zoom

Zoom’s sign-in page opens. Sign in with the Zoom account you want Attaché to use.

    On screen

Zoom lists what Attaché asks for: to create, update and delete meetings, and to read your profile (why).

  3. Step 3: Choose Allow

Zoom sends you back to Attaché.

    On screen

Video meetings shows the Zoom account as Connected, with its e-mail address. Calendar accounts that have no meeting service of their own now use Zoom by default; Attaché lists them, with Undo.

  4. Step 4: Check the defaults

Under Default for new events, choose for each calendar account the service that new events get with one click, and which Zoom account if you connected more than one (more on defaults).

Use it

Add a meeting to an event

In a new event, or when you edit one, choose Add Zoom meeting, or pick Zoom in the meeting button’s menu. When you save, Attaché creates the meeting in your Zoom account and adds its link, meeting ID and passcode to the event’s notes (and the link to its location, if that is empty), so your guests get them with the event. Zoom receives only the event’s title, start time, duration and time zone. A repeating event gets one recurring meeting for the whole series.

When someone who helps you adds one

Anyone who may create or change events in a calendar of yours may add a Zoom meeting to them. It is created in your Zoom account, and you are its host. They never receive your Zoom sign-in or tokens, and Attaché never shows them your Zoom account’s email address or why it can’t be used. If their changes to that calendar need your approval, the meeting is created only when you approve. Each of them can add up to 25 meetings a day for you, and everything they do is in your activity log.

Meetings follow their events

When an event moves or is renamed, wherever the change was made, Attaché updates its meeting in Zoom within a few minutes. When the event is deleted, Attaché deletes the meeting 24 hours later, so that undoing the deletion keeps the link. To take a meeting off an event, edit the event and choose Remove on the meeting: it is deleted in Zoom 24 hours later.

Start the meeting

Start it as you start any meeting of yours: in the Zoom app, signed in to the Zoom account Attaché used, where it is listed with your other meetings.

Several Zoom accounts

You can connect up to 5 Zoom accounts, for example a personal and a work one, and choose for each calendar account which one its meetings use.

Daily limits

Zoom lets each host create or change 100 meetings a day. Attaché keeps to 60 of them for each Zoom account, new meetings first. When a limit is reached, Attaché saves the event without its meeting, tells you, and offers Try again on the event; changes to existing meetings wait for the next day.

What Attaché can do in your Zoom account

Attaché asks Zoom for four permissions and uses each for one thing:

Zoom asks you to allow What Attaché uses it for
Create meetings
meeting:write:meeting
Creates the meetings that you, or someone who helps with your calendar, add to events.
Update meetings
meeting:update:meeting
Keeps a meeting’s title and time in step with its event.
Delete meetings
meeting:delete:meeting
Deletes a meeting after its event is deleted, or when you remove it from the event.
Read your profile
user:read:user
Reads your Zoom user ID and e-mail address, so that you can tell your Zoom accounts apart.
  • Attaché asks for nothing else. It can’t see your other meetings, recordings, chats or contacts, and it changes or deletes only meetings it created.
  • It never keeps the link that starts a meeting as its host.
  • Your Zoom tokens are encrypted with AWS Key Management Service, only our background workers can open them, and they never reach your devices or the people who help you. The privacy policy and security page have the details.

Remove Attaché from Zoom

You can remove Attaché in either place.

In Attaché

Open Settings → Connections → Video meetings and choose Disconnect by the Zoom account. Attaché also asks Zoom to revoke its access.

In Zoom

  1. Step 1: Open your apps in the Zoom App Marketplace

Sign in to the Zoom App Marketplace and open My Library, at the bottom left. In older layouts, choose Manage → Added Apps.

  2. Step 2: Remove Attaché

Find Attache - Shared Calendar, choose the More icon in its row and choose Remove (in older layouts, Remove next to it), then confirm with Remove. Zoom tells Attaché, which disconnects the account.

What happens then

  • Attaché can no longer create, change or delete meetings in that Zoom account, and the people who help you can no longer add Zoom meetings to your calendars until you connect a Zoom account again.
  • Attaché deletes the account’s tokens, its Zoom user ID and e-mail address, and the Zoom details of the meetings it created there (their meeting IDs, join links and passcodes), normally within minutes and always within 10 days of the disconnection or of Zoom’s notice. It keeps only a record without those details (its own reference, the event it belongs to, who added it and its status), so that it can recognize the meeting details it added to your events, until that event leaves Attaché’s cache or your account is deleted. Copies in our encrypted backups go within a further 35 days.
  • The meetings stay in your Zoom account, and their links keep working. Events that have one keep its details until you change or delete them, but Attaché no longer updates or deletes those meetings.
  • Calendar accounts that used this Zoom account go back to their own meeting service, or to none: choose again under Default for new events.

For Zoom administrators

If your organization requires approval for apps from the Zoom App Marketplace, people see Request instead of Add, or Zoom says the app needs your approval. To approve Attaché, sign in to the Zoom App Marketplace as an administrator, open the page of Attache - Shared Calendar, open the menu next to Add and choose Manage approvals, then approve it for all users or for chosen users or groups. Requests wait under Marketplace admin → App requests. The setting itself is under Marketplace admin → Permissions: Require published apps to be approved by Marketplace admin.

A user-managed app

Each person adds Attaché for their own Zoom account. It reaches only that person’s meetings, and only those it created: approving it gives Attaché no access to anyone else’s.

If it doesn’t work

“Request” instead of “Add”, or the app needs approval

Your organization’s Zoom administrator must approve Attaché first: send them these steps.

“Zoom needs reconnecting”

Zoom no longer accepts Attaché’s access to that account. In Settings → Connections → Video meetings, choose Reconnect and sign in to the same Zoom account. Meetings already created keep working meanwhile; Attaché catches up with their events once you reconnect.

The Zoom account was connected to another Attaché account

A Zoom account works with one Attaché account at a time. Connecting it to a second one disconnects it from the first, whose owner Attaché tells, without saying which account took it.

The wrong Zoom account was connected

Zoom uses the account you’re signed in to in your browser. Disconnect it in Attaché, sign out at zoom.us, and connect again.

“The meeting couldn’t be added”

Attaché saved the event without the meeting and told you why: Zoom was unavailable for a few minutes, the account needs reconnecting, or a daily limit was reached. Open the event and choose Try again.
